The name's Adam. Don't run anything yet but plan on getting a x ray XT8 09 spec. While doing some research I ran across Neal's name numerous times and have heard nothing but praise about both his work and customer service. So I plan on running a clocked something, looking at the modded jpx .21 plus. Will be running out of Saint Cloud Minnesota.

Truggy. The plan is a Xray XT8 09 spec. I just send you an email and was amazed by how quickly you responded. I guess what they say about your customer service is true. I would like to get into some racing but have zero experience with nitro RC's so I'll start off in open fields to get the hang of it and move on from there.

That is the best way to learn the engines is to practice away from the track..... Tho sometimes going to the track and having someone with more experience helping you tune can be beneficial....

My name is Karl, I am a Basher and just love the HPI Savage.

I started with a Savage X and couldn't have had a better introduction to nitro running, the 4.6 was a fine motor and I may have a little sellers remorse for letting it go.

I run a Savage XL and have not had many good outings with the 5.9 motor I'm sad to say. I believe I'm just done with it. I need a more reliable horse power motor or I'm afraid I will just loose interest altogether and just go electric. What motor would you suggest as soon as I can pull the trigger on a new motor.   Not a newbie to nitro, but far from an expert. Thank you

Rick Wolf here.  I live and race in Southeast Georgia.  I am currently running one of Neal's JL mods in my D8 and could not be happier.

Welcom to CRE guys!

Karl, I used to run a Savage XL also and Neal modded my first Picco 28 and I installed a roto backplate instead of a pull start.  The motor was a beast for the savage and if you don't mind blowing the odd drivetrain part, I would suggest going with the Clocked Picco.  I tried the LRP .30 in it for a little while but it was no comparison imo.  It had some torque, but nothing that made me want to keep it in there instead of my picco.

We've got some video's of the Savage, I'll dig for them and post the links.
