Novarossi 28-7T
I didn't see anyone talking about this engine so i figured i would say something about it, I just purchased one and love it. This engine is down right nasty all the way through I bought it to run in my SC8 and all I can say is they dont make a gear set big enough, I ran this on our local track for a race last weekend and it is insanely fast. I got a gallon through it before the race for break-in and thought it was going to be awesome, man was I in for a shock this thing only gets faster and better. After blowing all of my corners I decided to pull it and run it in my truggy with a 16/46 gear combo in a xt8 there was not a car/truck out there that could hang, and I was still getting 9:30 pit stops with fuel in the tank. I have video of this race and will hopefully get it uploaded this week for anyone to see, all I can say is I am a believer and thank you John and Neil can't wait to run the big races and actually have the power to hang with the big guys.
Yes, she's a screamer that one.. We've got a few guys throwing their Savages around like Rag Dolls. Should be more videos popping up this week I am told. Can't wait to see them as all Neal and I can do is watch you guys have all the fun right now during our Winter season.
Glad your happy Josh, as our slogan says...
SEEING IS BELIEVING
John or Neal,
Do either of you know if this engine is the same or similar to the old 528XR? That was the only .28 I ever saw that had intricate port-work like some of the high end competition .21's. And man was the 528XR ever a BEAST! Easily the most powerful engine I've ever experienced. I thought the old Werks/Collari .32 was mad until I tried a 528XR!!

I have done several 528XR engines.... this 28-7 will absolutely wipe the floor with a 528...beleive i or not ! very similar bottom, but the 28-7 has a big ramp of mid and top power the 528 does not have, most notably on top end............They are very similar engines, same componants more or less, but the 28-7 has a large front boost port where the 528 had 2 smaller siamesed ports.....the larger single port flows better then a split port does...tho stock vs stock the 528 was stronger as it ran a little higher timing, but my modified 28-7 has much higher timings, plus the advanatge of the better flowing sleeve design........ in the end the mod 28-7 is pretty ridiculous ! very powerful with a crazy top end for a 28, much higher top end then a 528 had
Neal,
I have a Kyosho onroad GT2 with a Picco P7 that you did for me a couple of years ago to run in a Losi EightT , but decided to run in the Kyosho.
The motor has around 6 gallons of fuel ,when I put new clutch bearings in the last time they have a little wobble so I don't know if I didn't change them
enough and it wore my crank down over time! So I'm looking at this Nova 28-7 for a replacement or the Bonnito or Fire11 to many to choose from.
I also had one of your Picco 28's in LST then put that in the Kyosho before the P7, ran 12 gallons thru it so I think I want to try a Nova. I race in a
large prepped parking lot every Friday night weather permitting. I'm not concerned about Fuel mileage. I need something that will take a beating,it's not
uncommon to run a gallon of fuel in one night. The last hard run I did was a 5hr Endurance with the P7without shutting the car off no flameouts ,it ran
Flawless.
I think you will point me to the 28-7, but the Bonnito is interesting.
I also have the JL21, when you & John did the hyper 10sc I had you send the motor & milled chassis, I could throw that in for the time being.

The 28-7 is the faster of the two...but the Bonito is not too far off and is better suited to non stop high speed running....28's are better for short blasts but don't like to be held wide open at high RPM's for too too long...where a .21 can spin those RPM's all day long and not blink an eye,,,,,,,,The Bonito is a missile of a engine, gobs of torque and a killer top end......But the 28-7 is just ridiculously fast.......both engines are soo good that you really couldn't make a bad choice between them.....
the nova 287t is by far the strongest fastest engine i have ever owned. I thought my modded os 28xz and 25xz were screamers. I put the nova 28 7t on my onroad car and its no comparison. this motor has it all bottomend mid range and will scream on topend like a nova 21. i have just shy of a gallon on it and everytime i take it out its still getting stronger. i recommend this engine for just about any offroad and onroad application. great job neal on this engine my boy and I are very proud to own one of your engines.
Great to hear!
Would love to see any videos you may have
